The day had finally arrived! They’d been engaged around a year. I’d had the pleasure of photographing them several times this year during their engagement photos, family photos and Carrie’s bridal portraits. I think we were all a little surprised that the day had finally arrived. I had been hearing bits and pieces of how things were going over Office Communicator and was finally glad to be in the same room with this family that I’ve grown to adore! The day was just perfect, not hardly hot with a gentle breeze swaying the branches every now and again. And the bridal party, oh man, you couldn’t ask for a more fun group of people! As we were walking to the field to take the guy’s photos there were jokes flying around from all sides, including the photo of the groomsmen (3 down) that I really had no part in initiating! The girls were a great bundle of joy and excitement as they flitted around the bride telling her how beautiful she was and asking if she was nervous. It was exactly what a wedding should be! I hope you enjoy this post with some photos from their wedding and a few little tid bits every now and again to let you in on some of the surprises they had!

Actual story of this:
Groomsman 1, “Hey, I see a flag over there!”
Groomsman 2, “Yeah, it matches the wedding colors, oohh Casey it matches the wedding colors.”
Casey “Oh perfect! Wait, it’s attached to a stick! We’ve got to do a raising of the flag picture like Iwo Jima.”
Me: “This is in unreal.”

Carrie had members of the bridal party sign the bottom of her shoes!

So I know this picture is a little less than “perfect” but I think it fits perfectly. The band on the right is a thin little gold band that was given to Carrie’s great, great grandmother in December of 1919. That bride received it on her wedding day and also happened to be named Carrie. So this Carrie proudly wears a ring that is 90 years old, it’s not perfectly round or perfectly sparkling, but it’s perfect for a woman who is so proud of her family.

Just minutes before the ceremony I walked in to this picture: Casey’s dad, and best man, applying rhinestone letters to his bottom which were hidden under his jacket. It was a great moment or so my intern Jenny said when he flashed it at the crowd as he was turning to the pastor after Carrie and her dad arrived at the front of the aisle.

So, the first time Carrie’s dad slipped her a tissue but the second time it was the man minutes away from officially being her husband.

A little twinkle of the eye and a look between the newlyweds sent them running down the aisle!

Casey and Carrie met at Liberty University so we decided to take their portraits there! I think it worked out pretty well.

They were really up for anything!

The reception at the Hilton Garden Inn was my first there and it was a great venue!

Just another small note: the Browns and the Johnson’s can seriously dance! Carrie and Casey glided around the dance floor with ease and grace during their first dance. I’m so glad that Lynchburg Live was filming it! Then Bobby Brown, yes, Bobby Brown, busted out with MJ like moves that I can only envy and emulate alone in my house. Carrie wasn’t left out as they did what seemed to be a choreographed dance to the YMCA. Leave it to these guys to take it to the next level!

It was over before we knew it and they rode into their lives happily ever after!
