June 3rd, 2010EngagementI know it’s been a while since I posted but it’s certainly not because we haven’t been busy. If you like to stay on top of our new content then I would encourage you to become a Facebook Fan, you’ll get a chance to see the latest content first! There are about 8 sessions/weddings on there that have yet to debut here. I know it’s sad but we’re working on it! So, anyway! Let me introduce you to Devin & Katelyn. They are some of the best clients a photographer can dream of. Not only did they really come ready for anything but they trusted me completely and even agreed to a sunrise session! I hadn’t really thought they’d take me up on it when I offered but I am so glad they did. We had a great time wondering around taking beautiful pictures before most people even brush their teeth. We finished our photo date off with breakfast at Market at Main.
Between lots of laughing & comments about hairspray we talked about our families, challenges of married life and what we hoped God would do with our lives. It was like being with old friends! So, please feast your eyes on S. Carter Studios first ever sunrise engagement session! Seriously, leave them some love for being this good looking at 6:30 am.

If you found yourself driving over the overpass into Lynchburg and wondering who those crazy people on the side of the road were taking pictures, well, proudly I’ll answer, it was US. I think they’d agree it was totally worth it.

After a quick outfit change (which was clever to pull off at 7:30 am in Lynchburg) we were back in action at a more relaxed location.

one of my VERY favorites!

Bling, Bling.

We went down by the water and I asked them to just go and have fun, this is what I got in return lol

Take a look at the slideshow for more photos from this awesome session!

February 11th, 2010Take A LookPart 1: I really, truly love Thursdays. Thursdays are my Saturdays. I choose how to spend my time from sun up to sun down. Thursdays are also great because the next day is a “light” day of teaching. I think the birds chirp a little louder and the sun looks a little warmer on Thursday. This has inspired me to let that Thursday joy pour out via this blog. So on Thursdays, as often as I am able, I plan to invite you to Take A Look at something that makes me happy, something that inspires me, something that I think is worth your time. Without further ado I invite you to take a look today at:
Julia’s Poppies Design. The mastermind behind Julia’s Poppies is a lovely friend of mine, Ms. Jamie Wyckoff. She has a talent for creating custom print designs for any occasion! Here is some of her work that I snagged to share from her amazing Portfolio website & her blog. She comes up with completely custom designs for wedding stationary based on the couples!
Save the Dates

Invitations – LOOOOVE these!

It would be a shame not to share some other pieces that are just too clever! This is a pop out birth announcement

This is a We’re-having-a-baby announcement! – Another awesome thing about Jamie is that she posts stories behind her designs and even a little behind the process! It’s all on her blog!

So let’s say you’re not in either the engaged or having a baby category. Jamie still has something up her sleeve for you! Check out a couple of her stationary designs.

I haven’t even tapped the tip of the ice burg as Jamie also customizes clothing and accessories!
Other reasons I love Jamie – I’ve gotten to know her family pretty well. She was a sister of the groom at Josh & Michelle’s 2009 wedding (bet you can spot her even if you’ve never seen a photo of her)

and she was a sister of the bride at Dave & Justina’s 2007 wedding which is where I first glimpsed her stationary skills.

So, go and check out her amazing work and please let her know that I sent you! Also, she’s running a free giveaway contest on her blog that you can still enter!

September 21st, 2009EngagementI was nervous, like really nervous about taking Melanie and Tim’s pictures. It’s not every day (or ever) that I get an e-mail from a couple with a full on theme for their engagement session. It was obvious when they walked up that they were more than excited for the shoot. Melanie was sporting a 1940’s hair do from a salon in town. Tim had a shiny swiss pocket watch which gleamed in the sun. I loved finding out that they sought out their outfits on e-bay, at Kohl’s, Goodwill and a few other locations in order to find just the right look. As they described their black and white, chicago wedding this January, the shoot became even more exciting. Can’t you just see it! Well, I guess you could if I would go ahead and show you the photos. So, enjoy!
Oh yes, I should mention that I’ve done some vintage editing on these photos to go with their theme. I loved using my new Totally Rad Actions!
Her engagement ring was so unique! He custom designed it with a jeweler in Israel. Shortly after, he marched up the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and proposed to her! Yeah, it’s true.
I’m sure you can imagine my excitement to shoot at the top of the City Market Lofts.
Congratulations guys! I’m sure you’ll have a beautiful wedding. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of celebrating with you! Sabrena
