Paul and Jenny – South Carolina Wedding Photographer

It’s an amazing thing to walk with a dear friend through life. To remember silly inside jokes, to think about graduating and going separate ways, traveling all the way to the West Coast with only half a plan (still, not my fault), medical school for her and graduate school for me. Then all the sudden we were grown ups. I was married first and she was a spectacular Maid of Honor. Then a little less than two years later it was her turn (see proof in an engagement session here on the blog) and I got to serve as her Maitron of Honor. Almost all of the photos below were taken by my talented, handsome husband Josh and he did a wonderful job!

Hey look! I’m in this picture, the last one on the right. She picked beautiful dresses (so great that I wore it again a few days later on our cruise!) and I think all together we were a pretty good looking crew.

I’d like to point out that Josh is absolutely spoiled by the amazing venues that our dear friends choose (Yeah, I’m talking about Lane and Jenna’s Alaskan wedding in a field nestled between two mountains). But I did ask to take some photos this time and mine are the next two below

I wish I could bring Spanish Moss with me to every wedding!

And just like that, she was married too. I cant’t wait for the adventures ahead Jen! Welcome to the family Paul!

Oh these handsome boys and their generous and joyful parents just steal my heart every time I’m with them! It really doesn’t feel like that long ago we were celebrating Ezra turning One! Since then they added sweet Ewan to the crew and invited me to take photos of their family around his first birthday! It was a great time and I’m so fond of some of these images. I’m so glad that they make time for these little sessions to commemorate these months before they are too quickly gone!

Jonathan and Katie – Lynchburg Engagement Photographer

If ever there was a smiling, laughing, easy going couple, it was Katie and Jonathon. First of all Katie is the queen of the spot on smile, she can flash that bright smile with just a second’s notice and after many years Jonathon has caught on to this trick. It was great because it was like there was no first ten minute awkwardness (c’mon you know it’s true, it’s just a little awkward starting out!) They were happy to hold hands, gaze into each other’s eyes and move around from spot to spot on the absolute perfect Fall day. I was happy to be there with them and get to know them better. You see, they’ve been at a couple of our weddings! They were guests at Johnna and James’ wedding and Jonathon was a groomsmen at Ryane and Aaron’s wedding! Soon it will be their big day and we’re so thankful that we’ll get to be a part of it! Not long now friends, just keep on truckin!

The Mengs – Lynchburg Family Photographer

Oh the precious Mengs! If you’ve been reading for a while you’ll already know Brittany and how we were roommates in college and that she and Aaron were my very first wedding. You’ll remember her being my first baby bump photos and these precious photos of her twin boys from way back when, and then from a little later than that! We took some new photos this Fall and it’s just amazing to watch these boys grow. Enjoy just a few shots from our fast paced and chilly session!

Jordan and Jen – Sweetheart Session – Portrait, Wedding and Engagement Photographer

Jordan and I used to work together years ago. He was the graphic designer for our publication and adamantly insisted that there should be no photos of people smiling in the publication and really in life in general. It was the cause of great glee when he messaged me all the way from Hawaii because all he wanted was some good pictures of him and his then girlfriend (now wife!) smiling together. So, with a big smile on MY face I spent the afternoon with these love birds trying to explore downtown Lynchburg in a new way!

Jenny and Paul, what can we say about Jenny and Paul. I’ve known Jenny for nearly a decade and in that time we’ve taken over a thousand pictures together. Typically with much eye rolling and complaining on her part. Admittedly, I’m a little obnoxious about pictures of my family and friends, but STILL! I was thrilled when she and Paul asked us to be their engagement and wedding photographers. The session went on with lots of laughing, crazy facial expressions and promises of “just a few more shots.” These are some of my favorite images from their engagement session in the Carolina pines!

Washburn Family – Lynchburg Family Photographer

This wonderful family invited us over for pictures to celebrate being together as brother Jonathon prepared to go to the Middle East for work. It was an easy session even with the family pets sitting obediently in the frame! I loved that Mama and Papa Washburn invited their other “children” into one of the shots as well. What a special group of people!

DJ and Danielle – Lynchburg Wedding Photographer

DJ and Danielle’s wedding and reception were full of bright and colorful details and people! Not surprising after their sweet and relaxed engagement session. It was a cultural experience to see their families soak up the Southern weather and wedding traditions! There was loads of laughing, dancing, singing and celebration and even a surprise choreographed dance by Danielle and her father. My wonderfully talented husband joined me for their Old Pate Chapel wedding and Boonsboro Country Club Reception. Enjoy a few of their images below or click here to see their whole gallery.

In addition to offering a candy bar to their guests DJ and Danielle made donations in their guests’ honor to the Freedom 4/24 organization. If you haven’t heard of it, please check it out!

The Godbys – Lynchburg Photographer of Love

During 2008, I visited my University’s gym almost every morning, before 8 am. Yes, even now I can’t fathom where I accessed that kind of drive inside myself but alas, I did. Many of those mornings I was greeted by the smiling Meredith! I imagine I wasn’t very cheery but am glad that didn’t keep her from contacting me about a couple’s session for her and Kyle. We planned it months in advance, only to be rained out on our first attempt and waited a few more months for the perfect Fall weather. It was well worth the wait as beautiful leaves and crisp weather definitely worked in our favor.

Meredith’s family has been a part of the Pepsi corp for several generations so we incorporated classic Pepsi paraphernalia into their session!

It was a great session, hopefully next time they’ll bring their sweet puppy with them too! I so enjoyed the beautiful Christmas card they sent featuring one of the images as well. That’s one of the best perks of my job!

Wes and Emily – Hilton Head Island South Carolina Destination Wedding Photographer

Several years ago, I had the pleasure of riding 11 hours to the great state of Alabama for Nate and Bekah’s wedding with Emily and Wes. I didn’t really know them well before the ride. It was definitely a situation where I knew we’d either have a great time or be thankful that we didn’t have to share the same ride back. As the Lord would have it, we struck a special relationship that continued for years after! My heart was filled with joy for them as they announced their engagement. Over Chick-fil-A Emily shared details of her wedding with me and invited me to be a part of their intimate destination wedding in Hilton Head South Carolina. It was an absolutely stunning, God honoring event and something I’m so glad that I could be a part of!

It’s funny how traveling for a wedding can bring together people that live in the same city and never get to hang out! This was the case with many guests as well as that good looking married couple in the back Kyle and Kristin of the red suitcase engagement session!
