Welcome!

S. Carter Studios officially began in May of 2006 in Lynchburg, VA. What started as a favor to a friend, has turned into one of the most fulfilling careers I could have ever imagined. I have been taking pictures since I got my first camera from my grandparents in the 8th grade. I probably owe my parents thousands of dollars in film developing costs. What was then an interest in preserving the memories created with friends has developed into a passion for documenting the beautiful capacity to love and be loved that God has given to us.

My goal with my photography is to truly capture the love between family members, the excitement and anticipation of engaged couples, and the moments of hope and endless potential at weddings. I don't come to events to just take photographs but to serve. I have made more memories and friends than many people can say they've made in a lifetime and I'm just at the beginning. How wonderful life is!

Scott and Jessica

S. Carter Studios is officially “in season.” These images came from the first engagement shoot of spring! Josh and I met Scott and Jessica just two doors down from where we live because Scott is sort of our neighbor! They walked over and our little Lynchburg adventure began. We had such a great time with them. It’s really sweet to see how God works to bring people together! Scott met Jessica randomly in Lynchburg while she was here visiting from New Hampshire! They are getting married in just over three months and I’m so glad I’ll get to be there too! Enjoy some photos from our afternoon!

I mean, seriously, they have matching blue eyes and incredible smiles! How can you not love them?

Let me introduce you to, the ring. The center diamond belonged to one of Scott’s family members and he said he kept going back to the store because he saw this ring, “and it was just HER.”
