This wonderful family invited us over for pictures to celebrate being together as brother Jonathon prepared to go to the Middle East for work. It was an easy session even with the family pets sitting obediently in the frame! I loved that Mama and Papa Washburn invited their other “children” into one of the shots as well. What a special group of people!

During 2008, I visited my University’s gym almost every morning, before 8 am. Yes, even now I can’t fathom where I accessed that kind of drive inside myself but alas, I did. Many of those mornings I was greeted by the smiling Meredith! I imagine I wasn’t very cheery but am glad that didn’t keep her from contacting me about a couple’s session for her and Kyle. We planned it months in advance, only to be rained out on our first attempt and waited a few more months for the perfect Fall weather. It was well worth the wait as beautiful leaves and crisp weather definitely worked in our favor.

Meredith’s family has been a part of the Pepsi corp for several generations so we incorporated classic Pepsi paraphernalia into their session!

It was a great session, hopefully next time they’ll bring their sweet puppy with them too! I so enjoyed the beautiful Christmas card they sent featuring one of the images as well. That’s one of the best perks of my job!

Michael and Candace – Lynchburg Family Photographer

If you’ve been reading our blog for any extended period of time then these faces will not be new to you. Michael and Candace invited us to celebrate their engagement and wedding. Candace was also a bridesmaid in Ryane’s wedding and a guest at Johnna’s wedding. Michael contacted me as their one year anniversary was approaching and we worked together on crafting a wonderful surprise for Candace as his gift to her. Josh and I snuck up on the celebrating couple at a well planned picnic and we roamed around for about an hour to provide them with an Anne of Green Gables themed couples shoot. Candace lit up with surprise and as usual, she and Michael had fabulous chemistry!

Shortly before their session Candace had been diagnosed with Gluten sensitivity so I brought Gluten free cupcakes from Taste Selects to sweeten the surprise! They were a hit.

As I get older I begin to understand how valuable it is to have all of your family in one place. I was thrilled with the Phillips family contacted me because they knew their crew would all be together and they wanted to honor their parents with beautiful family photos to celebrate the occasion! I think we came out with a few framers from the bunch!

The Mast Family – Lynchburg Family Photographer

Years ago, when S. Carter Studios had barely formed, Stephanie and Joshua asked me to do a session for them. I still distinctly remember being so nervous! Fast forward to Law School bringing them back to Lynchburg and the happy news that they were expecting. We all agreed they needed a last few pictures as just a family of two so we returned to the same place we’d gone on our first session! They have a natural, sweet way around each other and it made my job quite easy!

Stephanie looked fabulous. Seriously, baby William could have come any day when we were taking these pictures!

This one is my favorite.

Then fast forward a few more months and the Masts asked me to take some new photos of their family of three! It was a very cold day and William had his game face on. I think he’s just practicing modeling!

and, just because I think it’s an awesome picture I want to brag on Stephanie for a minute! She took this great photo of her sweet boy!

I love when kids get together to surprise their parents with photos. I don’t have kids of my own now but I can’t imagine anything I would like better than beautiful pictures of my kids! I was more than happy to oblige when the Pilleys got together to surprise mom!

Love this of two sisters being fun with their brother, it reminds me of my family!

The Barnhouses – Lynchburg Family Photographer

Do you remember this face? His precious toothy grin and bright blonde hair coupled with his giggles and super fast running skills made our mini session quite an adventure. He has photographers lining up to take his pictures, so glad we could get in on the action! Here’s a little then & now action.

I think we can also see a point here for why you should have regular portraits done of your little ones! They grow so very fast!

And a call for parents to be in photos with their children! They want to remember you at that time too! I can promise firsthand that their children will cherish it as well!

I hope to be a part of many more of these family photos!

This family has been in my life for almost a decade and they finally agreed to let me photograph them and as it turns out it had been over 7 years without a family photo. Those are some important years. I’m glad they didn’t wait any longer!
